I have been having a bit of a delve into the world of TikTok recently (with success, as I secured a new booking within just 3 days of posting!) and sharing some wedding planning tips. A few of them have touched upon things to avoid to minimise waste at your wedding. Unnecessary waste is one of my biggest bugbears at weddings, so here is a list of things you do need and a list of things you don’t need at your wedding. Plus, you will save a lot of money by getting rid of all of the ‘stuff’ that just ends up on the floor or in the bin!

What you DO need at your wedding

  1. Venue/marquee

  2. Amazing suppliers: photographer, videographer, entertainment, florist, hair/MUA, planner/coordinator, stylist

  3. Great catering

  4. Great music

  5. Happy guests that have enough to eat and drink - the basic recipe for an amazing wedding is well-fed guests, preferably a free bar and great entertainment

What you do NOT need at your wedding

  1. Confetti cones/envelopes

  2. Newspapers

  3. Fans

  4. Parasols

  5. Sunglasses

  6. Glow sticks

  7. Wedding favours

  8. Photo booths (sorry, but I hate these)

  9. Anything that ends up on the floor, broken and in the bin

It’s actually pretty simple. Get the basics right and your wedding will be unforgettable. Get the basics wrong and focus too much on all the ‘extras’ and your wedding will turn into a money draining event that creates unnecessary stress and waste. Allocate your budget effectively and prioritise what really matters. Getting your budget right at the very start is key to having a smooth wedding planning experience.

And if you’re still a little stuck, feel free to get in touch and see how I can help!
