An incredible Wedding at Mount Juliet Estate, Ireland
On 28th March 2026, a sensational wedding took place at Mount Juliet Estate, Co. Kilkenny. This wedding was a very special one, because the bride was one of my oldest friends. Every detail was considered and the flow of the day was seamless.
Venue
Mount Juliet Estate is a beautiful hotel, complete with a golf course, spa and equestrian facilities. It gives the feeling of an American country club, whilst being located in the heart of the Co. Kilkenny countryside. The wedding venue is split across the Manor House and the Hunter’s Yard. The beautiful newly refurbished Manor House was home to the drinks reception, where guests could explore the different rooms and grounds, whilst enjoying delicious canapes and free flowing drinks (particularly Guinness!). Guests then made their way over to the Hunter’s Yard, home to the McCalmont Suite and Green Bar, which played host to the wedding breakfast and evening party. The food was absolutely delicious and service impeccable. I cannot recommend Mount Juliet Estate as a luxury wedding venue enough - truly something special!
Photography and Videography
The brief for photography was natural with an editorial edge. Weddings From Sarah was the perfect choice to bring that to life. She was a superstar all day! Not only did she capture on digital, but also film AND Super 8 Videography. With the help of her lovely second shooter, Katy, Sarah was able to capture every element of the day perfectly and stayed well beyond her booked 12 hours! Having only received a few sneak peaks so far, I cannot wait to see the rest of the images and footage.
Floral Design and Tablescape
The brief was to reflect the Irish countryside, without being gimmicky. This was translated through every element of the design, from the florals to the tablescape to the stationery. Working alongside Tina from The Wild Bunch, I ensured the florals took centre stage. The colour palette was a mix of greens, dusty pink, deep raspberry and white. We wanted to ensure there was enough green in the design to reflect Ireland, so this was carried through to the tables. I chose two contrasting tablecloths to break up the room, a deep green velvet and a green and white vine pattern, from Total Event Rental. These were paired with burgundy napkins and elegant glassware, with green candles and stunning floral centrepieces. We also swapped the chairs for 2 designs, from the wonderful team at Hireall Ireland. An incredible broken arch was created to frame the church entrance, which was then repurposed and sat behind top table in the McCalmont Suite. A meadow arch framed the alter, which was then repurposed along the fireplace of the McCalmont Suite, and the two central beams in the room were covered with foliage. The flowers really were a showstopper!
Stationery Design
The stationery was designed in-house by Sophie. She created a Celtic knot vine design, reflecting both Ireland and the countryside surroundings, as well as a custom monogram and a venue illustration. These were used throughout each item of stationery, to create unique designs that were cohesive with the overall wedding design. There is something particularly special about bespoke wedding stationery - it cannot be replicated and is completely personal to the couple, acting as a treasured memory.
Entertainment
The entertainment was one of the main priorities for the couple. They love Ibiza and wanted this reflected in their music choice, whilst simultaneously creating a musical journey throughout the day for their guests. Starting with the ceremony, Anna Moore sang live and beautifully set the tone for a special ceremony, singing Olivia Dean’s 'So Easy (to fall in love)’ for the entrance of the bridesmaids and groomsmen, followed by Fontaines D.C.’s ‘Favourite’, a surprise for the groom that meant a few tears were shed.
The wedding breakfast featured DJ Gordon Johnson, playing Glitterbox style music throughout the meal. This worked so well! The atmosphere built and meant guest energy levels were high. Gordon then took a break to allow Blessed Irish Band to play a 2 hour set, which was a serious highlight of the day. Blending Ibiza club classics with Irish music doesn’t seem like the obvious combination, but this band does just that and absolutely delivers. It was then time for Gordon to return and close the night with Ibiza floor fillers, allowing guests to party into the early hours of the morning - the dance floor was never empty!
Thank you
This wedding was genuinely a personal favourite, and the team of suppliers that worked with me to pull this off are all amazing. It’s always special to be asked to be someone’s wedding planner because it’s such a personal decision. But it’s even more special to be asked to be a friend’s wedding planner and that I will cherish forever.
