How to make your wedding unique
It’s really easy to get bogged down in wedding trends splashed all over social media when planning your wedding. How do you know if you have to have a champagne tower? Or do you really need to add 35mm film photography to your wedding photography package? Will it matter if you don’t have draping and fabric signage? Well, the good news is that for 2026, trends are essentially out. Focusing on personal and bespoke details is in.
The beauty of planning your wedding is that there are no rules; it’s your day and you should plan it with only that in mind. So if you love 35mm film photography, then have it! If a champagne tower over a first dance screams ‘you’ - do it! But the easiest way to ensure your wedding is unique is to include personal details and have suppliers that reflect what you both like as a couple.
The Music
Music is an incredibly easy way of making your wedding unique and reflective of you as a couple. Choose pieces of music that you both love and that mean something to you; there’s no point picking a song just because it’s trending on TikTok - you’ll look back in regret, guaranteed. This doesn’t have to just be the ceremony music, but the music featured throughout the day. Think about how to ensure your evening entertainment is reflective of you, too. Country band? Sax playing DJ? Rock band? Your choice!
The Design
Wedding design is one of my passions. From the tablescape to the stationery and every detail in between, I love to ensure that your wedding design is cohesive and reflective of you. Incorporating little personal touches is the perfect way to make your wedding unique and memorable. Maybe your colour scheme is inspired by your favourite holiday destination? Or maybe you want to include an illustration of your beloved pet? Whatever it is, adding personal design touches makes your day unique and unforgettable.
The Menu
Choosing a menu for a very large group of people can be a little overwhelming. But in reality, people are just happy to be fed (make sure there is enough food!). So really, your wedding breakfast should be a chance to interweave your personal likes. For example, if you just LOVE sticky toffee pudding, then have it! If your relationship started over a pizza in the early hours of the morning after a night out and having a pizza has become your ‘thing’, then get a pizza truck for your evening food. This is also true for your bar menu - personalised cocktails are a great way to inject your personality.
The Stationery
One of the easiest ways to bring personal elements into your wedding is through the wedding stationery. Your invitation is the first thing your guests will see, so it’s nice to sprinkle a little personal element into their design to give your guests a flavour of what your day will entail. This can then be carried into the on-the-day stationery suite. Be it a bespoke crest, illustrations of your favourite things, or a sketch of your venue, whatever it is, making your stationery bespoke to your love story adds a layer of luxury and originality.
What not to do
I think the most important thing to remember is not to feel the pressure to do EVERYTHING! You just can’t. And there is no point in making your wedding wasteful, or contriving photo opportunities just because it’s a current TikTok trend - you’ll look back on the photos and think ‘why?’. The photos that stay with you forever are the ones that show raw genuine emotion and connection. The ones that capture the feeling of the day. So make decisions based on the two of you and your relationship and it will make the whole planning journey that much easier.
